Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) provide a grass-roots way to engage, develop, and create a sense of belonging that is different from official programs sponsored by the company. The WE (We are Empowered) ERG is dedicated to being a voice of Maravai #MiracleMakers by facilitating advocacy, mentorship, and outreach to enable and celebrate our community’s full potential.

Kate Broderick, PhD
Chief Innovation Officer
Dr. Broderick is a seasoned biotech leader and international expert in DNA vaccines and DNA-based therapies. In 2022, the San Diego Business Journal named her as a finalist for the San Diego Business Women of the Year Awards, and in 2023, she was named to the PharmaVoice 100. The Journal also recognized her as a Leader of Influence in Life Science for 2022. Kate serves as an executive sponsor for our employee resource group, We are Empowered (“WE”).

Isabel Bernal
Vice President and Controller
Ms. Bernal brings 20 years of accounting, financial planning, and analysis experience to Maravai. She is a trusted partner and well-respected team member across the organization, championing process improvements and supporting the growth and evolution of the company. As Vice President and Controller, Isabel Bernal was honored among San Diego’s Women of Influence in Accounting and Finance by the San Diego Business Journal.

Becky Buzzeo
Chief Commercial Officer
Ms. Buzzeo was recognized on The Healthcare Technology Report’s list of Top 25 Women Leaders in Biotechnology of 2023. In her role as Chief Commercial Officer, Becky’s contributions have helped influence corporate strategies. Her commitment to driving innovation with tangible impacts makes her a standout leader.

Chanfeng Zhao
Chief Commercial Officer
Ms. Zhou was recognized on the 2024 PharmaVoice 100 that honors those in the life science industry who are making meaningful contributions to their fields and striving to improve outcomes for patients around the world. Chanfeng brings over 20 years of experience of nucleotide and modified nucleotides used in Sequencing and Synthetic Genomics fields. She was the Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of MyChem LLC (acquired by TriLink), a company that specialized in making synthetic ultra-pure nucleotides to customers in the diagnostics, pharmaceutics, genomics and research markets.
